It is the purpose of this chapter to prescribe regulations consistent with the most
current edition of the North Carolina Fire Prevention Code, its appendices and nationally
recognized good practices for the safeguarding of life and property from the hazards
of fire and explosions arising from the storage, handling, and the use of flammable,
combustible, and hazardous substances, materials and devices, and from conditions
hazardous to life and property in the use or occupancy of buildings or premises.
